At Low Country Dermatology, we are proud to offer laser treatments including laser hair removal and laser genesis.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicle with a laser beam. The laser light is absorbed by the pigment and converted into heat. This heat damages numerous follicles at a time, which prevents the hair from growing back. Laser treatments are effective for removing unwanted hair from any area of the body, including the face, arms, legs, bikini line, and underarms.
Is Laser Hair Removal Painful and How Long Do the Treatments Last?
The laser treatment itself may produce slight tingling or irritation at the time of the procedure. However, at Low Country Dermatology, our laser uses a patented cooling technology that helps our patients tolerate any discomfort. Each treatment can last up to sixty minutes, depending on the part of the body receiving treatments and how much hair is being targeted. Because lasers only affect hairs that are in the growing phase, it is unlikely to remove all the hair at once. Several treatments are suggested, and this will be discussed at the time of your appointment. Our average client can expect 4-6 treatments for maximum effectiveness.
What Is Laser Genesis and How Can It Help Improve My Skin?
Laser Genesis uses micropulse technology to help kick-start new collagen production and repair signs of aging and sun damage. The device uses a nonablative laser that can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including uneven texture, rosacea, and large pores.
